The Edge

The Edge.org is a web site maintained by Edge Foundation, Inc.; according to the web site, “Edge Foundation, Inc., was established in 1988 as an outgrowth of a group known as The Reality Club. Its informal membership includes of some of the most interesting minds in the world.

The mandate of Edge Foundation is to promote inquiry into and discussion of intellectual, philosophical, artistic, and literary issues, as well as to work for the intellectual and social achievement of society. Edge Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit private operating foundation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.”

At the Edge.org, readers find a series of questions that were posted by the organizers, and those questions are answered by various scientists. The names of the researchers who participate is impressive; many Nobel laureates, members of the Royal Society, and other world-class scientists have posted responses to the questions. Answers to Edge questions are also made available in book form. In recent years, collections have included: What We Believe But cannot Prove, What Have You Changed Your Mind About? What Are You Optimistic About? What Is Your Dangerous Idea? and This Will Change Everything?
