Isaac Newton: What a Color Is

Isaac Newton is one of the most famous scientists from early in the days of the scientific revolution. His many discoveries informed science for centuries, and many are still applied to important problems today. Among his discoveries was that light, specifically the light that comes to us from the sun, is composed of a range (a "rainbow") of colors. This was done with a simple, but previously unperformed (to our knowledge) experiment.
