Centralization
An electrifying story

Every factory used to have its own system for generating electricity, then it became cheaper to buy electricity generated at power stations & delivered via wire.
Guess what we are doing with computing power now?

Why Should I Care? > Digital divide is going to come back-- of course it never really left > Technology excuses will go away > Sharing and collaborating will become the norm > IT support will change |
So, What Should We Do?
1) Get an account with Google Docs or Zoho (oh yeah... after you get the account use it!... and use it with colleagues/ students)

Use this link if YouTube is blocked.
2) Develop a sense of the ethics necessary for existing in this connected world (oh yeah... after your get your ethics, model those ethics)
What do we put in the cloud when we may be unknowingly putting "stuff" into the public sphere?
What do we ask of our students when it becomes easy to "share information?"
Can we justify avoiding it because we don't understand/ like it?
Can we assess the risks and the benefits?
Do our school policies protect us?
