E-Learning for Educators also provided students the opportunity to design an instrument to assess students in an online setting. Participants created their own assessment and also completed those created by others. I used this as a chance to research and develop an initial instrument to study facilitating conditions related to educational technology.
There are a range of reasons why an educator might choose to use electronic means of testing and surveying students or others. My list includes:
- facilitating efficient scoring by having “the computer” score multiple choice and similar simple questions;
- allow for quick compilation of responses;
- increase anonymity by allowing responses from any physical location.
